Jennifer Roque

(Aunt Jennifer & Uncle Marc)

Dear, sweet Maureen,

I am heartbroken.

I remember visiting you in Philadelphia when you were 5 years old. You made me feel so welcome, and you enjoyed snuggling up to me as we read one book after another in your bed. I also remember you visiting me when I lived in San Diego. You were 14, so very tall, all arms and legs, full of joy, singing and dancing to The Backstreet Boys. Years later, when you first met your cousin Nina, you were so gentle and loving.

I hold many more beautiful memories. I am very grateful for those. I wish there would be more.

My Dear Maureen,

I am so sad that you are no longer with us. You truly were a special person with a beautiful soul. We never were able to spend enough time together, but when we did you and I always reconnected like old friends.

I know life was hard for you but you did your very best and I was always amazed how strong you were despite challenges many of us will never face.

But mostly, I'll remember a very sweet, smart and caring woman who so easily brought a smile to so many faces - family, friends, and even total strangers - and touched so many around you.

I'll always be your "Uncle Chicken".

Love,

Uncle Marc
